Big Brother is Watching

Drivers now have a unique opportunity to save on car insurance thanks to an innovative program from Progressive. MyRate is an optional, behavior-based car insurance program that lets drivers pay based on how, how much and when their car is driven. Drivers who choose to participate simply plug a small wireless device into a port in their car that automatically sends driving data to Progressive. Cars driven less often, in less risky ways and at less risky times of day can receive a lower premium.

Yikes! This scares me! I hope it remains optional and not mandatory, and I hope it doesn’t start being installed in cars at the factory.
This is EXCELLENT
Davis came up with the idea after neighbors who recently moved into homes next to his hayfield complained about his farm.
“The people who bought the homes say, ‘Well, we love looking into your yard and seeing the horses and the cattle, but we don’t like the flies, and we don’t like the mosquitoes,’ and when I cut my field to bale it, they say, ‘We don’t like the dust in the air,’ ” Davis said.
Davis said he offered to pay half the cost of a fence between his property and the others and to build it. He said his neighbors declined the offer, saying it would block their view.
Davis said after the neighbors declined his offer, he used a backhoe to dig three large holes on the edge of his property, then took three cars that had competed in demolition derbies and planted them nose-first into the ground.
That is EXCELLENT.
Oh… Mah… God…
This guy argues that he’s too fat for lethal injection. Does he blame Mickey D’s for being such a cow? Maybe he can sue the prison system for force-feeding him all that high fat food and get RICH, too?!
Cooey, 41, is sentenced to die for raping and murdering two young women in 1986. His execution is scheduled for Oct. 14… His attorneys say a drug he is taking for migraine headaches could affect the execution process… Heath says Cooey’s weight, combined with the potential drug resistance, increases the risk he would not be properly anesthetized… “All of the experts agree if the first drug doesn’t work, the execution is going to be excruciating,” Cooey’s public defender, Kelly Culshaw Schneider, said Monday.
I’m going to start with not necessarily thinking the death penalty is the right thing. I don’t think there’s a way that you can really know, in most cases, who is guilty of a crime and killing someone innocent is just wrong across the board. With that said, allow me to play devil’s advocate here. The Constitution protects against cruel and unusual punishment, I get it, we don’t want to torture people. But here’s a guy who raped and murdered two women and we are killing him. Do we really care if it hurts? Did he care about the women he injured and killed? I mean, a nice humane euthanization is certainly not really compensation for the horrors that he inflicted on other human beings, right? And if he’s so worried about the lethal injection, maybe we should get old sparky back out, or a firing squad, or a guillotine? And maybe if his migraine medication would interfere with the lethal injection meds, we should stop allowing him to take that medication and let the bastard suffer a few migraines? “Hey, buddy, here’s some Excedrin! Think twice before you rape and murder!”
Or how about this one, we go ahead and put him on a nice diet. Something low enough in calories to make him rapidly lose weight but high enough in calories to keep him alive. I mean, the guy’s in prison, it’s not like you can’t control things like diet in there!
Not that I want this guy to suffer… I don’t know that he did what he has been found guilty of, but he’s been found guilty of it. He’s been sentenced to death. This is just a ploy to try to save his life, a last ditch effort. And he’s wasting tax-payer money doing it. I understand he has the right to appeal and all that, but this is taking it one step further. He’s not appealing his guilt; he’s appealing his lifestyle. If he wins, all the people sentenced to death across the country are going to all of a sudden start getting fat and then we won’t be able to carry the death sentence out on anyone until a new, “more humane” method is found (ha, humane way to kill someone, snort).
I mean SERIOUSLY!
