Bring it On, Crazy Lady
Lawyer for ex-Miss California USA threatens to sue pageant director
So If I were Miss California pageant director Keith Lewis, I’m pretty sure my response to psycho Carrie Prejean’s lawsuit threat would be “Bring it, bitch.” Ok, honey, we get it, you think gay marriage is wrong. That doesn’t give you the right to ignore the terms of a contract that you signed, regardless of what the pageant directors think.
The crux of the lawsuit is that they “defamed” her by saying she violated the terms of the contract. I disagree, however, and here’s why
Carrie Prejean’s Emails Reveal Poor Character, Spelling
You do not cooperate with me, and you pick and chose the the things YOU want me to do. That is not happening anymore. Stop speaking for me. I have MY own voice. What are u gonna do fire me for volunteering for the special olympics hahaha ur crazy No I am doing this appearance. You do not need details. Its for the SPECIAL OLYMPICS!!! You just need to know I will be doing it alright
Keith Lewis demonstrated incredible patience in his response (something akin to, “that’s fine if you want to do the Special Olympics thing, but we need to know about it so that we can put it on your calendar and not double-book you” rather than, “STFU, you spoiled bitch”).
Regardless, I think it’s pretty clear that Ms. Prejean was NOT fulfilling her duties as Miss California and she should SUCK IT and be a GROWN UP ABOUT IT already.
Where’s the justice in this?
Cleveland Browns wide receiver pleaded guilty to DUI Manslaughter and received 30 days in a county jail. Yes, that’s right, folks, he killed a man with his vehicle, while intoxicated and has been sentenced to 30 days in jail. Yes, a human being… dead Granted the guy wasn’t in the crosswalk, but still… the intoxication part should really have overridden that, in my humble opinion. (I guess the guy’s family got a financial settlement that made it worth it to them to not pressure the prosecutor for a stronger sentence. I’m not sure how I feel about that…)
Meanwhile, in other football news:
Vick was sentenced to 23 months in federal prison for financing a dogfighting conspiracy. He won’t be released from federal custody until July 20, but his departure from Leavenworth begins a new chapter.
They can’t prove that he participated in the dog fighting, that he attended the dog fighting or any of that, and I don’t think he’s admitted to it. What he did do is provide money to his relatives to create a dog fighting ring at some property he owned. Oh, right, and apparently he transported dogs across state lines for the purpose of dog fighting (a federal offense). He got 23 months in a federal prison.
Yes, that’s right, killing a human = 30 days in county jail whereas providing the opportunity for someone to create an environment where one dog can kill another = 23 MONTHS in a FEDERAL PENITENTIARY.
What about birth order?
Breast feeding and high grades, etc.
Breastfed babies seem more likely to do well at high school and to go on to attend college than infants raised on a bottle, according to a new U.S. study… By comparing siblings, the study was able to account for the influence of a variety of difficult-to-measure factors such as maternal intelligence and the quality of the home environment… The study, published in the Journal of Human Capital, found that an additional month of breastfeeding was associated with an increase in high school grade point averages of 0.019 points and an increase in the probability of college attendance of 0.014.
Wow. That’s amazing. Especially the increase in the probability of college attendance. Plus, having taken some statistics in college, I wonder if the sample size that they studied was large enough to draw any real conclusions (126 children). Also, which sibling was breastfed, child number one, number two, number three? Because it has already been established through previous study that subsequent children are more entrepreneurial and self-sufficient, which, in itself, may lead to higher GPAs and a greater probability of college attendance.
I’m pretty tired of these “you’re a bad mom if you don’t breastfeed” stories. Some women just aren’t able to do that, some aren’t willing, and for some, both of those things.
I wonder if I could find an article from the 1950’s or 1970’s that stated that bottle-feeding your children is better than breastfeeding?
Jon & Kate Plus WHO GIVES A SH*T?
Lately there has been a lot of news about these Jon & Kate Gosselin people, ranging from their cheating on each other, to exploiting their kids, to how AWESOME Kate’s hair is. And Jon & Kate themselves are whining about the publicity and being followed around by the paparazzi. To be quite honest, I had never watched the show before last week, and when I did “watch” the show it was for about 60 seconds and then I changed it because I honestly don’t give a rat’s ass, and I think they ARE exploiting their children. So anyway, here are my thoughts:
- They should shut the hell up about all the publicity because they signed their privacy away when they chose to do a reality show.
- It does not surprise me in the least that they are having marital problems. I can list five couples at random off the top of my head that have had reality shows and subsequently split up.
- If they care about their children, each other, and their family life AT ALL they should end the show RIGHT NOW and join the witness protection program.
- When you’re in a car with your children and you say “Oh, there’s the paparazzi,” with cameras rolling, then you exit the vehicle and your child asks “What’s a paparazzi?” Don’t later say that she pointed out the paparazzi and go through all these demonstrations about how you don’t even let them say the word… You were on video for goodness sake and we all saw what really happened — this is called exploiting your children.
Well this just chaps my hide
Green jobs struggle to pay living wage
Many of the entry-level jobs making green energy components start at $12 an hour, much less than the now extinct $28 an hour job that had allowed high school-educated workers in the auto sector to achieve middle class status.
I don’t understand why you should automatically be thrust into the middle class just because you are high school educated. Isn’t this something you should work towards? Yeh, you may start at $12 an hour (which probably IS a living wage in the midwest, where it’s still somewhat inexpensive to live) but that’s not what you’re going to make for the rest of your life! Good lord people, let’s have something to WORK TOWARD. Why should you get something for nothing?
Safe Haven Laws
Abandoned Newborn Found Inside Box
Someone dumped a three to seven day old child in a box on the side of the road somewhere near Orlando. This is just shameful in this day and age where we have safe haven laws. It is completely legal for parents to drop their newborns in some sanctioned locations so why leave one on the side of the road to die? Am I just more educated about these things than most people? How do people not know about these things. And don’t tell me it was some scared teenager who was afraid to face her parents — the safe haven law protects anonymity.
This is just entirely frustrating.
Did we just not know about the other presidents?
Apparently Barack and Michelle Obama went on a date this weekend. That’s great for them, I hope they had a lot of fun.
What I wonder, though, is did George and Laura go on dates, too? It would be hard, in my opinion, to go much further back than the Bush presidency because the internet has allowed us unprecedented access to celebrities and politicians, and the internet was just coming into that purpose during the Clinton administration.
So, if George and Laura did go on dates, it leads me to wonder, is President Obama more accessible and/or relatable than our previous presidents? And is that a good thing? I mean, yeh, I’d like to grab a beer with the guy, but can’t it lead to problems if he is too accessible?
